INTRODUCTION
Christopher Columbus is one of the most famous explorers of his time and the man who opened the way for European exploration to America and many different countries in the world. He lived from 1451 to 1506 and is known as the man who first discovered America. He sailed to many different places and each time he discovered new goods.
Who is he?Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer and navigator. He grew up in Portugal and his dream was to discover the New Land, India. Columbus was born in the port city of Genoa. He was the eldest of five children, three brothers and one sister. He grew up in a poor family. Wherefore he did not get the education which wealthy children got. However, he was mainly self thought through readings. Columbus later attended the Prince Henry's School of Navigation. With only 14 years he started working on ships. Additionally he earned money by selling maps and charts from early on in his life. Later on he had two sons, Diego Columbus and Ferdinand Columbus, both from different Mothers. His first wife was called Felipa Perestrello Monis and his second Beatriz Enriquez de Arana.

Did he discover America?Many people still believe that Christopher Columbus was the man who discovered America. But by now many scientists and historians can prove that he definitely wasn't the first to discover America. There are different ideas of who was the first do discover America. Some historians believe that the Viking Leif Ericsson was the first to discover the "New Land". Where as other Historians belief that Abu Raihan al-Biruni was the first. But there are many many different theories of who in the End was the first to discover the New Land also known as the New Land. Many people believe he was the first to discover America, because he was the first to write his discoveries down and to spread his ideas and new discoveries.
